Nations Unite to End Plastic Pollution

175 countries agreed to create a treaty to end plastic pollution. This is a huge step to help the oceans become cleaner and to save sea life from suffocating or deformed because of the plastic humans have just thrown on the ground, rather than in the trash bins. I believe that as long all the nations execute what they plan to do, it will make a huge improvement for the world.

There is just one concern some have about this treaty. Marine scientists don't believe getting rid of plastic from the oceans, lakes, rivers, and other water bodies are worth it. They believe this because pulling the plastic out will increase the number of carbon emissions, which is an already huge world issue, that is a cause of ice glaciers melting, sea levels rising, and overall, global warming. Instead, experts think that the best way to clear all the plastic is to avoid the use of plastic.

What I honestly think is that there needs to be a combination of less plastic use and removing plastic from the ocean because the plastic isn't going anywhere from now and we should be heading toward biodegradable things, so this doesn't happen again, nor that it gets any worse.
