The Harm of Invasive Species

There have been many cases of invasive species causing areas to have an abundance of that one species. These non-native living organisms have been exposed to a new environment, where new species and climate are encountered. But even with these new challenges, they began to thrive, multiply with nothing obstructing them. In contrast, native numbers dive down and have to fight to get enough resources to survive.

But why do these invasive species numbers increase rapidly? Well, it’s pretty simple, they don’t have any predators to keep their population down. The food chain becomes erupted.

This reminds me of multiple stories I heard of people releasing goldfishes or koi into lakes or ponds. These fishes tend to reproduce rapidly and can survive in the cold winters and warm summers. They are also native to Japan, so there aren’t any predators. People had to manually remove the thousands of fish out of the water. Here’s a recent story.
