Enriching Biodiversity

As autumn fades away and the cold temperatures and high winds come rushing by, it’s a sign of winter starting. The animals change their habits. Like the bears and squirrels go into hibernation after stuffing themselves all season long. At the same time, the birds migrate to warmer climates. So they can find more resources, like insects, one of their food sources. Winter is when insects sightings drop because of the change to freezing temperatures.

But there has been a turn of events in the past few winters. There has been an increase in migrating birds that have changed the United Arab Emirates’ biodiversity. As in result, the deserts, greenspace, and freshwater lakes have been enriched in plantations.

Birds play an essential role in the ecosystem. They are pollinators and feed animal carcasses, which increases the number of plants and cleans up the land. Along with being pollinators, they are also seed dispersers. They will drop the seeds around when they fly all over. They also help stabilize population levels for their prey and predators, making them keystone species.
